I'd been meaning to check out this Sugarhouse boutique for a long time to peruse their steampunk style items and when I did I was delightfully surprised to find they carry eco-fashion options too. Most notably they have a green line from Eleven44designs which uses sustainable fabrics such as modal and organic cotton. The style here in the shop is fierce with a touch of whimsy and they carry some uniquely edgy styles which is always something I'm looking for especially when it comes to eco fashion. Rather than looking hippy dippy you can style yourself with much more sophistication and it's great to see those options showing up in boutiques in a more sustainable way.
Along with the green items from Eleven44designs I found plenty of American made designs. Buying American is better on the local economy and also cuts down on your carbon footprint (less miles to travel from manufacturer to shop to wardrobe right?) so I was also really happy to see a good deal of domestic selection. During my visit they didn't have any Utah local designs but they have in the past and will get some in stock soon.
It's a tiny shop but it's packed with intriguingly chic pieces. They do carry a good deal of leather pieces so vegans may be wary but I'm sure if you ask about more animal-friendly alternatives and often enough more retailers like this with a really stand apart feel will respond with those options.
