8 PM WNBC: Telecast from the Monte Carlo Sporting Club in Monaco, the World Music Awards honors excellence in music and best-selling recording artists, with Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus, Jason Derulo, Fall Out Boy, Flo Rida and Ricky Martin all scheduled to perform.

8 PM WNYW FOX: “So You Think You Can Dance” Season 11 opens with two hours of auditions and Justin Bieber introducing the top dance crews.

9 PM HISTORY: “The World Wars” closes its three-night run with the outbreak of World War II and the diplomatic forces behind the idea of never surrendering.

9 PM WNET PBS: The special “D-Day’s Sunken Secrets” comes to the series “Nova” to examine the science behind discovering, identifying and plotting the relics on the sea floor near Normandy, France.

9 PM SPIKE: The special “One Night Only: An All-Star Comedy Tribute to Don Rickles” features appearances by David Letterman, Tina Fey, Jon Stewart, Amy Poehler, Martin Scorsese and Tracy Morgan, among many others.

10 PM WNBC: “Inside the Mind of Edward Snowden” has broadcast journalist Brian Williams heading to Moscow to talk with former NSA contractor Edward Snowden about his life in exile and his uncertain future.
