What is telecommuting?
Entrepreneur defines telecommuting in non-technical language, “the practice of working from home for a business and communicating through the use of a personal computer equipped with modem and communications software.” Telecommuting is the type of work many persons find easier to perform because it is difficult for them to be in an office environment for valid reasons. The difficulty in this matter is business owners are not willing to give in and bring the telecommuting option to their work environment, which confuses many persons who can work just fine yet are unable to find a job due to business inability to add in this one type of capability.
Who would benefit from telecommuting?
It would seem business owners are unsure of the certainty telecommuting has and if they would actually benefit from the cost. The answer to that question is absolutely. Two persons who would benefit in this matter are the business owner and the employee. Employers can easily achieve information to ensure this person is under doctor’s care but in the end, it is a winning situation for both the employer and the employee as employees will be obtaining an income and the employer will be obtaining someone to work for them remotely.
Software has grown over the years and it has taken a large leap to help communication aspects become easier. A great example of this is Skype as it allows all persons to stay in touch who work remotely and meet in a specific room. The wonderful thing about this program is everyone can talk via video directly through the computer and it can be private so only those within will be aware of what is said. Telecommuting within business is something that can be quite helpful for everyone especially persons who are unable to drive and in need of a job and business owners that are in need of highly skilled employees.
