The track, which is a b-side from the their earlier 2013 release, Hearththrob, continues with the 80's pop styling of the aforementioned record; Complete with rhymthic snyth, snare slaps, and cooed falsettos adorning the chorus, the track takes their more recent retro-inspired sound and turns it up several notches.
Shudder to Think will be featured on the soundtrack for the upcoming film The Dallas Buyers Club, alongside other indie greats such as My Morning Jacket, Cold War Kids, The Airborne Toxic Event, and Fitz and the Tantrums.
The Dallas Buyers Club stars Matthew McConaughey as Ron Woodroof, a Texas man who died from an AIDS-related illness in 1992.
According to Rolling Stone, McConaughey's character, Woodroof, was "denied antiretroviral treatment after his diagnosis, he travels to Mexico to obtain black market medicine that he smuggles back and sells to other patients. Jared Leto also stars in the film, playing a transgender woman named Rayon with HIV who helps Woodroof operate his illicit business. Both McConaughey and Leto underwent dramatic physical transformations for their roles in the film."The film opens Nov. 1.
The soundtrack for The Dallas Buyers Club drops on Oct. 29.
