Teething can be a difficult time, but it can be a fun time to try new foods and products.
Be sure to talk with your doctor about anything you plan to allow Baby to chew on or eat. They will be able to offer safe suggestions for you to try.
Gerber the the forerunner once again in their toddler and infant-friendly products. Biter Biscuits are hard, gnaw-friendly biscuits that babies love, but be warned the biscuits are super messy. They crumble well when chewed, and are apparently a minimal choking hazard, but as always be sure to keep an eye on Baby as the cookie begins to break up into smaller pieces. Earth's Best has a wheat-flavored teething biscuit, but they are narrower with sharper corners and not as appealing to baby. The form factor is still a good one, and Baby still has something easy-to-handle and gnaw on between meals, as a snack, or just to assist a tooth cutting through.
Also a great aid for teething are gel teething rings. While it's tempting to freeze these for prolonged use, most are best left in the fridge instead, to prevent freezer burn. Check to make sure the teethers are filled with a sterile, distilled solution safe for ingestion in the event a teething ring leaks.
Hard, textured plastic rings are massaging and smooth, steel teethers are good choices as well. Tiffany & Co. offers silver teethers intended for use by Baby, and kept as a keepsake--bite marks and all!
Homeopathic teething tablets are available for teething pain, but be sure to read all info available and consult your doctor before deciding the best occasional teething medication for your baby. The tablets also work for adults as well! Some stores (such as Target) carry Hyland's Teething Tablets behind the pharmacy counter, so you'll need to ask for them.
More Info: Most grocers carry at least a few choices in teething products, but discount retailers such as Walmart and Target will provide a larger selection and better overall prices in most cases.
