Teens spew profanity and hatred in the name of environmental awareness

Remember Van Jones, the former Obama appointee with radical ideas and a radical past to match? Should your memory need refreshing, Jones, who was quietly asked to resign over Labor Day weekend, was a self-professed Communist and an outspoken supporter of convicted cop Mumia Abu-Jamal.

Although Jones has managed to remain largely out of the spotlight since his tenure as Green Jobs Czar came to an abrupt end, he made an appearance on an HBO special last month when he hosted the Brave New Voices Speak Green poetry slam, a competition where

youth from around the country, ages 13–24, compete for the opportunity to travel on behalf of Youth Speaks to some of the key conferences and summits on the Environment to date. (h/t The Blaze.com)

Sounds worthwhile even if the dead horse the organizers are beating—and deceitfully instilling in our youth—is global warming, no?

Well, not necessarily. The event, which was held in Los Angeles, was in large measure a profanity-laced hate fest, with four-letter words flowing from the mouths of babes egged on by audience cheers. Targets of these “poetic” tirades included former BP CEO Tony Hayward and former President George W. Bush, the latter for his historic mishandling of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. (Another president who will remain nameless was excused from criticism despite his equally deft handling of the Gulf oil disaster.)

The highpoint of the evening in any case were the prepared remarks of Van Jones, which included the following:

To see young people, this new generation, they have a new vision for the environment. They don’t see the distinction between social justice and the environment—they want to see healthy people and healthy planet. That‘s what I’ve been talking about for 10 years.

"mishandling of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. "

More liberal lies. What's so sad is that most of you are just so stupid, you can't figure it out.

The democrat Governor and the democrat Mayor HAVE first response responsibility and BOTH not only refused help but demanded Bush stay out of it. Her, basically because she was afraid to lose control.

They are BOTH murderers. The Mayor for refusing school buses and demanding Greyhound instead ... let people die because he was a black man looking for bling. And her for making FEMA wait until it was too late.

Once again, democrats murdering people from ignorance, and blaming others for their own stupidity.

I like how you took one poem the entire night and made the whole event seem like it is about, in your words, "spewing profanity and hatred in the name of environment awareness." There is a difference between reporting and blogging. You are a blogger. This is a blog post, not a news article.

There were multiple "poems" at this event that were profanity laced and filled with misplaced anger. I chose one as an example.
