Two teens reportedly having sex on a sixth-floor balcony fell to their deaths Wednesday, authorities say. The young couple were apparently locked in an amorous bit of lovemaking when the male attempted to position the female on the balcony's railing, witnesses said afterward.
Yahoo News reported June 12 that two teens on the sixth-floor balcony of Knights Tower in South Deptford, London, were intent on making love, but when the 18-year-old man propped the target of his affections, a 19-year-old woman, on the balcony's railing, the couple lost their balance and both pitched over the railing, falling to the ground six floors below.
In a more recent report, Sky News noted that police referred to the deaths as the result of a "tragic accident" and did not find the incident suspicious. The teens had apparently been attending a party or gathering on the sixth floor.
There were multiple witnesses to the erotic-turned-horror show.
said he and his partner Blessing had seen the couple fall.
"They were trying to have sex on the balcony, the guy was lifting the girl and putting her on the bannister, he kept on doing it," Samson Oguntayo, 32, an events manager who lives in the neighbouring Cornmill House, told Sky News. He and his partner saw the entire scene unfold.
"He was putting her on there - they were going back and forth. You could see they were doing some really dangerous stuff.
"The last thing I expected was to see them falling down five floors. We just screamed."
Another witness (who did not wish to be identified) said they saw sexual activity on the balcony and drew their blinds. However, a female neighbor saw it all. She said the young man had lifted the girl onto the balcony then stumbled backwards toward the building. However, the female teen stumbled in the opposite direction and they both fell.
Numerous people who did not actually see the couple reported along with those who did the sound of a loud bang -- the sudden impact of the balconies as they hit the ground seconds after falling over the balcony rail.
The horrific deaths of the teens in London are just the latest where couples having sex have somehow found themselves tapped by the bony finger of death.
In December and February, two sets of couples -- the former from New Jersey, the latter from Pennsylvania -- decided to have sex in their vehicles and subsequently succumbed to carbon monoxide fumes.
In June 2013, a couple fell to their deaths after a window they were having sex against shattered.
