Two teens fall to their deaths from a balcony, and the tragic story is making headline news. The two teens, in the midst of an amorous embrace, fell to their deaths from a 6th story balcony in London just after midnight Wednesday morning. The unidentified teens – the male was 18 and his female companion was 19 years of age – tragically fell over the side of a balcony railing at an apartment complex and were pronounced dead.
Witnesses said the couple were kissing, and the male had propped the girl up on the side of the balcony. She had her arms wrapped around him when she apparently lost her balance and fell over backwards, dragging the boy with her.
The area where the teens fell to their deaths from the balcony has been graced with a pile of flowers at the foot of Knights Tower.
A neighbor who lives in a nearby apartment said she saw the teens fall. According to Samson Oguntayo, the two were trying to "have sex" on the ledge. "The occupants were inside, these two were on the balcony. We were shutting our blinds when we saw a couple on their balcony frolicking. They were kissing and stuff, she was telling him to get off her. We then shut our balcony."
He continued: “They were trying to have sex on the balcony, the guy was lifting the girl and putting her on the bannister, he kept on doing it,” he said. “He was putting her on there – they were going back and forth. You could see they were doing some really dangerous stuff.”
The two were attending a party in the Deptford section of London, Metropolitan Police said. Detectives said they continue to investigate, but the deaths at this point are considered a tragedy only with no foul play suspected.
"This appears to be a tragic accident and our thoughts go out to the families and those that knew them," Inspector Shaun Carre-Brown said.
Witness Blessed Adedoyin said the couple were “kissing and getting quite intimate. He lifted her up and put her on to the edge of the balcony and she had her arms around his neck… and then suddenly they just went over together and fell,” she said.
Adedoyin said she heard them scream and then also heard the two hit the concrete below. She called for an ambulance but she knew it was too late.
"I don't know if she slipped or it was him pushing forward that took them both over, it just happened so quickly," she said. "I just can't get the image out of my head. I thought it would be better today, but it's not. I don't know if what I saw will ever go away."
Update: The UK's News Shopper has now identified the teens as 19-year-old Anastasia Tutik and 18-year-old Miguel Ramos. "Mr. Ramos, who arrived from Mexico a week ago, was the son of respected Mexican politician Miguel Lozano Munguia. Ms. Tutik was a student at exclusive fee-paying Bellerbys College London while Mr. Ramos was studying at English language school Embassy London, located next to each other in Stowage," says the UK source.
