Two teens allegedly stabbed another teen to death during an altercation in the Cobb Community Transport Terminal parking lot over the weekend in Marietta. And police on Tuesday said the 14 year-old and 16-year-old have been arrested.
Josue Chapa and Brandon Betancourt, both of Marietta, were charged as adults with murder in the death of 18-year-old Marquise Carruthers, according to Marietta police.
The incident ended around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday at 800 South Marietta Pkwy. But police said the fight began earlier at another location. They did not name the other location nor did they provide a motive for the fight.
The investigation began when someone called to report a person lying unconscious in a grassy area near the roadway, police spokesman Officer David Baldwin said.
Officers arrived to find Mr. Carruthers suffering from a single knife wound to the chest, Officer Baldwin said. The teen was rushed to Kennestone Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
“Marietta police detectives immediately launched an investigation which revealed that an altercation had occurred between the victim and two juveniles at another location and ended violently near the CCT parking lot,” Officer Baldwin said.
Chapa, 14, and Betancourt, 16, were arrested Sunday, police said.
