According to CBC news the RCMP on Prince Edward Island have arrested 3 male individuals suspected of being responsible of the death if 50 seals found on Jan. 27 of this year.
The arrests took place on Feb 15 and 16.The three males are 15, 17 and 18 years of age. The RCMP released them to remain in custody if their parents until they face the court during the month of April. There has been no charges laid but the RCMP informs that they will face criminal code charges of causing unnecessary suffering to animals. They were able to seize items that they are allegedly connected to the crime scene.
The grotesque scene was found by students from the Charlottetown based Atlantic Veterinary College. Some of the seals were still agonizing when found. HSI Canada informed that the victims were young pups and adult seals and states that veterinary experts confirm the deaths were likely human caused, and witnesses indicate that they had euthanize several wounded pups upon arrival at the scene. HSI Canada had offered a reward for information that would lead to the arrest of those responsible for the death of the seals.
