"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" trailer is a step in the right direction

The debut trailer for this year’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” reboot is finally available.

The latest film featuring the heroes in a half shell has had a troubled past, with fans and turtle purists crying foul practically since day one. The film, produced by Michael Bay, at one point featured the titular heroes as members of an alien race of turtle warriors. It was recently revealed that their origin story is a much more believable (is that the right word?) creation at the hands of Shredder and April O’Neil’s father.

The turtles are played by Pete Ploszek, Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, and Jeremy Howard, with Megan Fox and William Fichtner starring as April O’Neil and Shredder, respectively.

The film is directed by Jonathan Liebesman, whose previous work includes “Battle: Los Angeles” and “Wrath of the Titans.” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” releases August 8, and all the current signs are pointing to this one deserving a spot on the summer moviegoing schedule.
