The Florida teen who flipped off a judge apologized, according to a Feb. 9 Inquisitor report. The teen also managed to avoid jail time for her fiasco.
Last week, Penelope Soto, irritated a Miami Dade judge with her bizarre attitude and laughter during an appearace she had after being arrested for possessing Xanax. Ultimately, Circuit Judge Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat judge found Soto in contempt of court after she rudely said "Adios" to him. At that point, she flipped him off and cursed at him. Rodriguez-Chomat sentenced her to 30 days in jail.
On Friday, Penelope Soto appeared once again before Judge Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat, and she was repentant for her bad behavior. She said,
"My behavior was very irrational and I apologize not only to the court and you but to my family. And I normally don’t act like that."
The judge listened to her apology, and he told her,
"Obviously, you have a drug addiction."
It certainly seems like Penelope Soto realized the error of her ways. It is good that the judge allowed her a chance to apologize and own up to her bad behavior. The teen who flipped off the judge will also complete a court-ordered drug treatment program.
