In 2003 Cartoon Network debuted the DC Comic series Teen Titans based primarily on the Marv Wolfman and George Perez run in the early 1980s. The series was done in a more anime style and although geared towards a younger audience delivered some great story arcs for fans of all ages. After it ended its run in 2006 with a final episode and movie Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo it was thought to be the last we had seen of this version of the Titans.
With the formation of the DC Nation block Cartoon Network with Green Lantern and Young Justice, fans were given a glimmer of hope with new shorts featuring the same cast and characters, but in a more comical atmosphere. Now those shorts are breaking out and getting their own series once again with Teen Titans Go! Keeping the new founded approach to the series.
The new series will focus more on the stuff that happens when everyone’s favorite young heroes are not saving the world and living together without adult supervision. The will be dealing with major issues such as teenage pranks and Drivers Ed. The original cast from Teen Titans return with Scott Menville as Robin, Tara Strong as Raven, Greg Cipes as Beast Boy, Hynden Walch as Starfire, and Khary Payton as Cyborg.
Teen Titans Go! premieres on April 23 during the DC Nation block alongside Beware the Barman which premieres this summer. The current series Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice will be ending their run on March 16th.
