A teen was suspended for asking Miss America to prom. According to Fox News, 18-year-old Patrick Farves from Pennsylvania asked Nina Davuluri to prom and got himself suspended. Apparently Farves decided to pop the question while Davuluri was visiting his school for a question and answer session. While everyone seemed to think this was funny (even Davuluri laughed), the school thought it was inappropriate.
"She just kind of laughed and I gave her the little flower I got. And I went up and I gave her the flower and asked her if I could get a selfie with her. And she was like maybe later, and I never got the selfie," explained Farves.
The teen was suspended for asking Miss America to prom because he "broke the rules" according to the school. The school says that Farves told them of his plan before the Q&A session and the school told him not to do it -- but he did it anyway, disrupting the event. It was this reason that the school was forced to take disciplinary action against Farves -- who will serve a 3-day in-school suspension.
Farves seems to understand why he was punished and he has apologized. He is focused on the next thing coming his way -- the prom. He says that he still hasn't found a date but he is fine going alone if he has to.
