Teen shot outside Safeway becomes 5th person shot in D.C. on Tuesday

A teenage male was critically injured Tuesday after getting shot in the head outside a Safeway grocery store in Northwest Washington. He was the fifth person shot in the District on Tuesday in four separate incidents. Three other people were stabbed in unrelated attacks.

The D.C. police chief says two officers were already in the area of the Safeway at Georgia Ave and Randolph St NW when the teen was shot around 8:15 p.m. But the gunman made good his escape.

Tuesday’s shootings and stabbings in D.C.:

• 2:25 a.m. – 4900 G St SE – man and teen shot, 1 killed
• 5 a.m. -- 3117 Buena Vista Terr SE -- man stabbed in thigh
• 7:10 p.m. – 7th and N Sts NW -- woman shot in buttock
• 8:10 p.m. – Safeway, 3830 Georgia Ave NW -- teen shot
• 9 p.m. – 4689 MLK Ave SW -- man shot in leg during robbery
• 10:35 p.m. – 242 Oakwood St SE -- man stabbed during domestic
• 8:25 p.m. -- 228 K St SW – man stabbed in abdomen
