Tyler Kost, an 18-year-old high school student from San Tan Valley, Ariz. attending Poston Butte High School, was arrested on May 1 by deputies with the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office “on suspicion of sexually assaulting at least 10 and as many as 18 high school girls.” Police described Kost as a “serial rapist” and are urging any other victims sexually assaulted by Kost to come forward.

The Los Angeles Times reported that in one alleged rape, Kost got a 15-year-old girl pregnant, and threatened to shoot any girl that rejected his sexual advances in the head. Kost is currently being held without bond.

Reportedly, Kost’s sexual assaults date back at least three years; and his behavior was public knowledge at his high school. Several of his victims include those he was dating when they were raped. Kost would stalk and threaten his victims relentlessly, ultimately causing two of them to leave Arizona and one of them to attempt suicide.

Victims say that that Kost initially befriended and asked his victims out on dates through a variety of social media venues. Kost would kiss the girls and then get increasingly rougher with them. The assaults were said to have occurred in his bedroom, his dates’ bedrooms, and “in public spaces, such as parks and parking lots.”

"He was, from all of the accounts of the victims, somebody who was highly manipulative, very charismatic and charming,” Sheriff Paul Babeau said at a press conference Friday.

The police investigation into Kost’s suspected rapes got underway in March when another boy contacted police after hearing a story from one of Kost’s victims. The informant also told police about several other assaults that Kost had allegedly perpetrated. Police eventually tracked down 13 young victims. After the case against Kost went public, five additional victims came forward.

Florence Unified School District officials told reporters that Kost had been taking classes online since February after he reported that girls at the school were bullying him.

The Daily News reported that Kost’s victims range in age from 14 through 17. Kost was originally arrested on Monday, April 28, charged with 13 sexual assaults, and then released from jail on bail. When arrested again on Thursday on 25 new charges of sexual assault, he was denied bail.

The 18-year-old alleged serial rapist has now racked up a total of 18 reported victims and 29 charges, including “seven counts of sexual conduct with a minor, three counts of sexual abuse, seven counts of sexual assault, seven counts of sexual conduct with a minor and one count of sexual abuse, in addition to two counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor he received during his first arrest.”
