Maci Bookout went through a devastating time earlier this year when she came down with a mystery illness that she claims was more painful than childbirth. Tomorrow, the former Teen Mom will appear on The Doctors where she will discuss the ordeal as well as reveal her mystery illness.
"It was terrible. I didn't even want to get up to go to the doctor, that's how painful it was," Maci tells the panel of doctors on an upcoming episode of the show, as recounted by Entertainment Tonight on December 11. "It got extremely bad and that's when they thought it was a kidney infection and I got the antibiotics and the steroid shot. That night, I was expecting to feel a little better because they were shots, so they seem to work quicker, but it got extremely bad."
Although Maci was medicated, things only got worse and the mother of five-year-old Bentley was forced to undergo more testing which proved what exactly was wrong with her, allowing doctors to treat her properly.
"Because the antibiotics weren't working at first, they thought it may be something like appendicitis or something similar just because it had gotten way worse and then, after the CT scan, they found out that it was a kidney infection."
Of the experience and the pain, Maci told the doctors, "I'd rather have eight kids at once than do that!"
On the show, Maci will reveal more details about the infection and where things went following the diagnosis. To see Maci's full interview, tune in to The Doctors on CBS tomorrow, December 12.
