“Teen Mom” star Amber Portwood was released from jail early. She was expected to spend 5 years behind bars, but was released after 17 months due to good behaviour. Those 17 months were also spent sober behind bars, as she worked on wrapping up her education. In fact, she is now willing to speak out about her struggles prior to going to jail. According to a new Wetpaint Entertainment report published on Dec. 20, “Teen Mom” star Amber Portwood visited Dr. Phil recently and revealed that she was not serious about rehab.
During her interview with Dr. Phil, she revealed that she spent her entire time in both rehab and drug court high on Fentanyl, a super-dangerous narcotic that's 100 times more potent than heroin."I was using a drug called Fentanyl," Amber revealed to the talk show host. "I'm not gonna give anybody any ideas, but let's just say it doesn't show up unless you send it to a lab. It's patches. It's really dangerous. I opened up the patch and I would eat the patch. It's like a three day patch, it's very dangerous. I was using that the whole time I was in there [rehab], with a friend, or whatever she was. While I was in drug court and on house arrest. Crazy."
Of course, Amber is open about her struggles now but she often kept her struggles secret before. She didn’t care about getting clean to be with her daughter, as she kept using the drug. "I would go in the mornings to go pee to screen, and I would be chewing on a patch as I was screening," Amber told Dr. Drew. "That's when I knew I didn't give a s—."
It is surprising that she didn’t overdose during her drug use. What do you think of her struggles?
