Teen MomAmber Portwood may be out of prison and focusing on staying sober, but her ex-boyfriend, Gary Shirley, says he won’t give up custody of their daughter, Leah, Radar Online reported on Jan. 1.

While Gary says that Amber has done well to put their daughter first in the weeks since leaving prison, he doesn’t want to give up his time with little Leah.

“Well, everyone knows that she went to jail for drugs and stuff,” he explains. “I’m not saying that she’ll ever get back into that, but I hear stories of how easy it is [to relapse] because that pressure is always there.”

“I don’t want to screw myself over [by agreeing to joint custody] and then have to fight for Leah. So I think it’s going to stay the way it is, just to protect Leah,” Gary Shirley added.

Meanwhile “Teen Mom” Amber Portwood has been busy adapting to life outside of a cell and filming a catch up special for MTV.

What are your thoughts on “Teen Mom” star Gary Shirley saying he won’t give up custody of his daughter to Amber Portwood?
