Teen Mom Charged With Possibly Injecting Daughter With Fatal Doses Of Insulin

On Tuesday around 1:30pm officers from the Harford County Sheriff's Office responded to the 900 block of Scannell Court in Joppa for a baby in cardiac arrest. Nine month old Salena Olivia Weber was transported by paramedics from the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center where she was pronounced dead upon arrival at 2:18pm.

Her mom, 19 year old Qucelia Yvette Baldeo, a graduate of Joppatowne High School, was rushed to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center with severe lacerations to her wrists in a suicide attempt.

She is listed in critical condition.

After obtaining a search warrant into her home investigators believe that the baby was killed by being injected with insulin in doses that are lethal to babies and toddlers. They are awaiting confirmation from toxicology results and an official cause of death from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Once Qucelia is released from the hospital she faces charges of first and second degree murder, first degree assault, and related child abuse charges.
