Amber Portwood, known for being on "16 & Pregnant" and "Teen Mom" is due to be released from prison on Nov. 6 and fans are curious to find out what her plans are and how she is really doing. Her brother, Shawn, revealed some information that sounds like she will be off to a great start according to a Oct. 9 report by Starcasm.
Shawn spoke with OK! magazine and informed them that the "Teen Mom" star has completed her drug rehab and even became the administrator of the CLIFF program, which helps other women in prison get sober. She also received her GED, completed anger management and took parenting classes. He also made it known that while she has worked on herself, she has spent quite a bit of time helping others. It definitely sounds like she kept herself busy while behind bars.
As for her plans once she is released, Amber Portwood plans to stay out of the spotlight and work on staying sober. Shawn said,
"She wants none of that life anymore. She's grown up far more than I thought she would. When I talk to her, she's changed."
One thing that hasn't been discussed is Leah, the daughter of Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley. Leah's father has a new girlfriend, who has been helping in caring for the young girl. Will the former "Teen Mom" star be able to once again be an active parent or will Gary try to stop that? Perhaps they or the courts will allow Amber to slowly work her way back in Leah's life? After all, Amber has been in prison for a while now and it might be difficult for Leah, especially if another woman has been caring for her.
However, if Shawn is right and the reality star really has changed her ways, then doesn't she deserve another chance at motherhood? All parents make mistakes, sometimes big ones, it's just that Amber's were in the public eye, in tabloids, magazines and on television. It is easy for viewers to be harsh on her, but when she is released, she will have a much better chance of remaining sober and doing the right thing if she has positive feedback and the support of her family and friends.
What do you think about Amber Portwood being released from prison? Do you think she will be able to stay clean and sober? Should she be given another chance at being a mom or do you think Gary will try to stop her from coming back into their daughter's life?
