Tonight’s episode of Teen Mom 3 opened with Briana taking a break from school to play with Nova outside in the plastic pool on the driveway. Her sister, Brittany, joined her and received a phone call from her guy friend, Derek. The two discussed Brittany not being on birth control, which she said she didn’t need, as “David Beckham is the only guy worthy of this.”
Alex was responsible for picking up the costumes for a performance in her dance class. At Alex’s house, she and a friend tried their costumes on and practiced their dance. Arabella fell down and hit her head on the ground with a loud thud, so they took a break for Alex to help her.
Katie and Joey went out to dinner with Molli and (sort of) discussed their problems, since they had been fighting quite a bit. Katie explained that was why they needed to go to counseling – they had to start somewhere. The couple got into the car and set off on a road trip to Salt Lake City the next day and immediately got into an argument when Katie learned Joey spent money on a car wash. Their argument over finances escalated, and Katie started to cry as they drove along.
Mackenzie still struggled in her relationship with Josh. While her mom pushed Gannon in a swing outside, she asked Mackenzie why Josh couldn’t work on the weekdays. Her mom wanted them to go to one of his practices to see what was going on during the week, but Mackenzie didn’t want to talk about Josh anymore.
Brittany hung out with her friend, which caused Briana to start thinking about dating again. She went ahead and called to make an appointment at the end of the week for birth control. While at the grocery store, the girls thought to buy condoms to have them around the house, but they were kept at the front of the store, where they had to ask for them. Brittany went ahead and asked the man behind the counter before tossing the box into their cart.
Alex had another meltdown when she discovered the dance costumes she purchased were missing. She screamed and shouted at her mom and siblings, and her mom tried to calm her down, but she still left the house in a tizzy.
While Mackenzie was working on her tumbling, her mom told her dad she thought she’d located Josh’s trainer’s phone number, so she called him to see if there was a time they could go to one of his practices. Josh’s trainer said he hadn’t seen him for a few weeks and was done with Josh.
Alex’s mom talked to Alex’s grandmother about Alex’s behavior. Her grandmother defended Alex, but her mom worried Alex didn’t know how to control her stress. When Alex got home, she talked to her grandma, who told her that shouting wasn’t going to solve anything. Alex said she wouldn’t be happy until she had the costumes in her hand, and her grandma suggested she stop and count to 10 or 20 before getting into a shouting match with anyone.
Briana and her mom pressured Brittany to go to the consultation for birth control the next morning. After much coaxing, Brittany went along, and she and Briana both discovered the supplies for a Pap Smear lying out on the counter. Brittany called her mom from the room and told her she wasn’t going to have that done and walked out. Briana, with her mother and Nova in the room, went through with things in order to get the IUD put in.
Once they arrived in Salt Lake City, Katie called her mom and told her Joey yelled at her the whole way there. She wasn’t sure anyone besides Joey would want her, but her mom told her not to let Joey ruin her birthday weekend and to still go wedding dress shopping. The couple agreed not to ruin their weekend and to still have a good time.
Mackenzie’s mom told her what happened when she called Josh’s trainer. She immediately wanted to go talk to Josh and couldn’t figure out why he would lie. The two of them drove over to Josh’s house, prayed in the car, and went inside to confront Josh about lying. Josh said he was just at practice over the weekend, but Mackenzie explained they wanted to see him practice and had called his trainer, who said he hadn’t seen Josh in weeks. Josh didn’t say much, and Mackenzie was in tears as she told him she wanted to be with him, but he seemed like he didn’t want anything to do with her. Josh mumbled that he needed time to figure things out.
Alex still hadn’t talked to her mother and replaced the costumes using money from her savings. Her mom and sister sat down and told her she needed to calm down. Her mom told her she needed to understand she also has stress and asked to work on fixing the problem between them.
Katie and Joey were getting along, so they ended up going wedding dress shopping after all. Joey even tried on a tux. Their happy times only lasted so long, as conversation on the way home turned to Katie’s schooling and money, once again. Katie even said they could go to the courthouse and get married, and Joey erupted because Katie said she wanted a big wedding, but now she was saying she would go to the courthouse. She didn’t think they should get married when they fight like that, so Joey told her to pack up and get out of his life fast as possible as soon as they got home.
Alex and her sister headed to their dance competition, which their mom recorded from the audience.
Back at home, Brittany explained that the last time she had something up her private area was when she had her abortion, and she wasn’t ready for that again and didn’t want anyone to touch her. Her mom and Briana told her she had to let it go and not keep it bottled up – she needed to remember the reasons why she did what she did.
Josh talked to his friend and brother about the situation with Mackenzie. He didn’t feel she and her mom had the right to go to his trainer. Josh said there were times where Mackenzie pissed him off, and he ignored her calls, but there were other times when he loved her to death. At her house, Mackenzie’s parents told her that she and Gannon deserved better than Josh. Mackenzie said she just wasn’t going to talk to Josh, and she didn’t think Josh realized she could find someone else.
