“Teen Mom 2” has been cancelled. Stars Jenelle Evans, Chelsea Houska, Leah Messer, and Kailyn Lowry have been told that season 5, which is currently airing, will be the last, Radar Online reported on March 14.
According to production sources, MTV has decided to cancel the show while it has huge ratings.
This may confuse “Teen Mom 2” fans who have seen via photos and online posts that the girls are still filming.
However, Jenelle Evans, Chelsea Houska, Leah Messer, and Kailyn Lowry won’t be back for a season 6, but are filming addition episodes for season 5.
It seems this is the end of the “Teen Mom” franchise as the original moms, Amber Portwood, Maci Bookout, Farrah Abraham, and Catelynn Lowell have been off the air for over a year, and “Teen Mom 3” was cancelled after only one season.
While there will seemingly be at least one more season of “16 and Pregnant,” there is hope for another “Teen Mom” franchise, but it’s not likely.
“Teen Mom” has been credited for helping drop the rate of teenage pregnancies in the U.S., and will be highly missed by fans of the show.
