Teen gives judge the finger according to a report from today at MSN. A Florida teen was given a 30-day-sentence yesterday after giving a judge the finger in court.
The article says 18-year-old Penelope Soto, who was arrested for drug possession, learned yesterday not to give the judge any lip! The irresponsible, and seemingly clueless teen “irritated the judge with her insouciant attitude” in court on Monday by “flipping her hair, laughing derisively, dodging questions.”
Annoyed, the judge gave Soto a $5,000 fine and bid her "bye-bye." Soto, still clueless, and clearly classless, laughed and responded, "Adios," so Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat upped her fine to $10,000.
“‘Are you serious?" the teen asked. ‘I am serious. Adios,’ said the judge.” One would think Soto would have the common sense to shut her mouth at that point. However, the teen promptly gave Judge Rodriguez-Chomat the finger. In return the judge found her in contempt of court and sentenced the 18-year-old to 30 days in jail.
Maybe this teen thinks twice before she flips off anyone else, especially a judge.
What are your thoughts on Penelope Soto’s actions? Do you think she will have learned her lesson after serving 30 days in jail?
