Two teenage girls were arrested after drugging one of the girl’s parents. According to a Jan. 3 report from the Sacramento Bee, the family’s Internet is scheduled to shut off at 10 p.m. Their daughter and her visiting friend wanted access to the Internet after hours.
They offered to go get fast-food milkshakes for the parents, which they secretly laced with prescription sleeping medication. The parents only drank about a quarter of the shakes, saying they tasted weird and grainy. They went to sleep and woke up feeling terrible the next day.
They went to the police station for a drug testing kit the next day when they couldn’t shake feeling hung-over and groggy or their headaches. They tested positive and alerted the police. The girls were arrested and taken to juvenile hall.
The couple’s daughter complained to the police that they drugged her parents because their Internet policy is “too strict.” It is unclear why the girls were so desperate to get online.
These girls need to be scared straight. Hopefully the court system won't take the criminal actions of these troubled teens lightly. Drugging parents crosses the line of normal teenage rebellion.
