Teen Girl Scientist Monthly: 'Modern Dances' (2013)

"Modern Dances" by Teen Girl Scientist Monthly is an Alternative Indie Rock album.
Tracks feature a real bite to them, the vocals of Morgan Lynch are at times spiteful, at times sweet. Well produced rock arrangements often grow into rich anthmatic choruses, which often incorporate every aspect of their sound in full embellishments.

The second track (entitled:'It's On') kicks in with a very upfront synth melody, this quickly drops out to feature a more driving bass line as the focus, only to reappear 2/3s through the song as an added texture in the right speaker. The following track "New Age" features a very similar structure. Their use of synths is interesting, often times they intro a song, but rarely stay in the forefront of the production too long- which I think is a good move, otherwise they could become grating.

The track "Faith" slows things down a bit in portions for a more intimate approach and an overall classic feel (with string sections) that adds an interesting dynamic to the record.
