A teenager was found shot to death in the driveway of a home shortly before midnight Saturday in northwest Atlanta. And police on Sunday said the shooting resulted from an argument outside the home where a party was reportedly being held.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as 18-year-old Stephon Thomas, of Atlanta. So far, police have not identified a suspect in the shooting and it’s unclear if there were any witnesses.
At 11:45 p.m., officers responded to 246 Polar Rock Road after getting a call about a person shot, according to Atlanta police. They did not say who made the call or how many calls they received.
When officers arrived they found the victim dead in the driver-way of the home, police spokesman Officer John Chafee said.
Thomas, who did not live at the home, was reportedly attending a party at the home when the shooting happened, according to the examiner’s office. It’s unclear who was throwing the party and why. It was also unclear how many people were in attendance.
Investigators said the shooting may have resulted from a dispute between the teen and another person. But they have not released the identity of the other person. It’s also unclear what the dispute was about.
The investigation is ongoing, Chafee said.
