On Tuesday evening 15-year-old fashion designer Jazmin Brown made her New York Fashion Week debut at Stitch. Mama Jones, formerly of “Love and Hip Hop,” graciously agreed to support the young designer with a strut down the runway as one of her models. Following the presentation of the Jazmin Brown Deztani’ collection, the young fashionista sat down with the Long Island Women’s Style Examiner for an exclusive interview.
Singer Nick Tangorra, rapper VNova, Angelina from “The Jersey Shore,” and Jim and Mama Jones, formerly of “Love and Hip Hop” and currently on “Chrissy and Mr. Jones” are but a few of the celebrities who came out to support the “Jaz in the City” fashion show. Jazmin Brown’s NYFW debut featured several pieces from her Deztani’ collection that can be seen in the slideshow. The teenage fashion designer and former model from New Jersey has also appeared on “The Tyra Banks Show.” After a busy night of fashion, Jasmin sat down to discuss her new line with the Long Island Women’s Style Examiner.
LIWSE: What inspired you to create a fashion line?
Jazmin: I was a model first since I was 7-years-old and I always wanted to do it and other designers told me to just go for it: there is nothing to lose and see the results afterward. The results so far have all been positive.
LIWSE: I understand you made an appearance on “The Tyra Banks Show.”
Jazmin: Yes, I did, after the Honey Maid Grahamfuls commercial.
LIWSE: The pieces from this evening focused on party dresses and gowns for Sweet 16’s, proms, etc. Is formal and party wear for teens and young women your plan?
Jazmin: I want to do a little bit of everything. I want everyone to feel comfortable and have variety. I know some people like to be dressy, (that’s me), and I also have prom and everyday wear. I have couture, like out of the box and crazy! I have a little bit of everything for each and every type of person.
LIWSE: The blue crisscross gown looked very comfortable and fit the model perfectly.
Jazmin: It was. I try to make everything very comfortable, and that is the main thing. I want everyone to feel comfortable and confident in my line.
Jazmin Brown’s Deztani collection is also green. Her fashion lookbook is currently only available online. For information on ordering her latest designs, please contact email@example.com. Jazmin hopes to be in a few boutiques after her Sweet 16 in March. Jazmin Brown's NYFW debut was presented by Bridget O"Brien PR and Events.
