Jackson County, OR - The Jackson County Sheriff's department believes that they know who is responsible for a disturbing act of animal cruelty which occurred this past December.
According to the Daily Tidings, a 17 yr-old boy has been charged with aggravated animal abuse for the burning of a cat who was discovered in Eagle Point.
The cat, named Meshach, was a stray who had been hanging around the home of Michael and Summer Finn.
Meshach alerted the couple to his suffering when he dashed into their home on December 22, 2011.
The couple discovered that the cat had severe burns on his face and under his tail. The type of burns indicated that someone had poured a flammable liquid on his body and set him on fire.
Though Mesach suffered horrific injuries from the intentional burning, he did survive and he is now thriving thanks to Sanctuary One animal rescue.
The authorities have not released the name of the teen believed to be responsible for this crime, nor have they indicated how they came to believe that he is behind the disturbing act.
There is suspicion that the teen might not have acted alone. There is a $5000 reward being offered for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of all parties involved.
Anyone capable of intentionally causing this type of pain to an innocent creature is clearly disturbed.
There is nothing "normal" about causing this type of suffering and those who are capable of such acts are highly likely to do something similar again.
Be well Mesach.
