A teen faces charges after a shootout at an apartment complex that left one man dead and two injured in DeKalb County Tuesday night.
Mr. Jordan Permenter, 18, was charged with murder and aggravated assault in the shooting, which stemmed from an argument, DeKalb County police said Thursday.
The suspect was also one of the ones injured.
The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. at the Sanford Oaks Apartments at 2035 Idlewood Road, police spokeswoman Ms. Mekka Parish said.
Investigators said the two victims drove to the apartment complex to meet the suspect.
“There was an exchange of gunfire and all three of the individuals were struck,” Ms. Parish said. “At least one of the victims had a weapon and the suspect had a weapon.”
Officers arrived to find two victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, she said.
One man was found dead inside a vehicle and another was wounded outside the vehicle, police said.
The DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office is waiting to notify family before releasing the dead man’s identity.
The injured man, who also hasn’t been identified, was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition, Ms. Parish said.
A short time later, someone called 911 to report a man shot at a home on Clark Drive.
“It was later determined this person was connected to the shooting on Idlewood,” Ms. Parish said. “Detectives believe this is the suspect.”
Mr. Permenter was transported to the hospital in stable condition. Detectives are looking for a second person for questioning, Mr. Travis Permenter who is related to the suspect.
