An 18-year-old father from Fairfield, Calif. that the Daily News referred to as demented and disturbed, was arrested on the evening of March 13 “after police say he bit off the nose of his 1-month-old son because he was frustrated with the infant's crying.”

According to The Daily News:

Joshua Cooper, 18, told Fairfield police he became so frustrated with the infant boy's crying that he bit off the baby's nose.

The Fairfield Police Department received a call Thursday night from a distraught mother who said her baby was bleeding from around his nose.

The injured baby was transported to Oakland Children's Hospital, where doctors there confirmed that approximately one third of his nose had been “chewed off.” While at the hospital, authorities also discovered that the baby boy was suffering a brain hemorrhage and a fractured skull.

Cooper was transported to Solano County Jail where he was being held on suspicion of child cruelty and aggravated mayhem.

There’s currently no word on exactly how the child came to be suffering a fractured skull and brain hemorrhaging. Police will continue to investigate.

Amazingly, the baby boy is said to be listed in stable condition.
