The 2010 Teen Choice Awards got off to a rocking start on Monday night, as Katy Perry came out on stage to sing her new single "Teenage Dream" (which really seemed to fit in perfectly with the theme of the awards broadcast).

Following that, we then moved on quickly to the award for Choice TV Actress. Even though there were many good actors to consider (such as "Glee" star Lea Michele), Selena Gomez managed to walk away with the famous surfboard for "Wizards of Waverly Place". Looking genuinely surprised, Gomez claimed that the award "should have gone to Lea Michele".

Following this, Channing Tatum won the award for action movie star.

Do you think Selena Gomez is the perfect recipient for the award? Check out some of the photos below!
