Teen arrested for N.M. shooting used AR-15 semi-automatic rifle (Video)

The teen arrested for the N.M. shooting reportedly used an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, the same type of weapon used by James Holmes in Aurora, Colo., according to Yahoo! News. Five family members were found dead inside a home on Sat., Jan. 19, 2013. A 15-year-old boy named Nehemiah Griego was arrested and charged with the murders, reported Eyewitness News 4 KOB.

One of the victims was reportedly a local pastor named Greg Griego. An adult woman and three minor children were also found dead at the scene. According to a neighbor, a married couple and their four children lived in the home where the teen was arrested for the N.M. shooting. Each of the victims had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, primarily from the AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.

The five victims were reportedly well-known members of the local Christian community who attended church services as a family every Sunday. Greg Griego was a beloved former pastor at Calvary on Osuna who worked with inmates at the Metropolitan Detention Center. The teen arrested for the N.M. shooting shares the same last name as at least one of the victims, but any relation has not been officially announced yet.

In an unrelated case, an AR-15 was stolen from a marked police cruiser in New Mexico late last year. According to KOAT 7ABC Albuquerque, three men were arrested for the crime. Zachary Hurd, Trenton Ward and Jacob Gutierrez were taken into custody, but the weapon was not immediately discovered.
