According to the Leader-Telegram, a teen from Eau Claire, Wis., is facing an animal cruelty charge after he allegedly slit the throat of a dog.

Last Thursday, 18-year-old Christopher S. Bong was charged with a felony count of mistreating animals for the killing of a seven-year-old dachshund earlier this month. Bong's alleged crime was discovered when he arrived to the home of a friend on May 10 with blood on his hands.

At that time, Bong allegedly admitted that he had killed the dog, who belonged to a 15-year-old girl - he claimed that the girl's mother wanted the dog dead.

The owner of the now deceased dog spoke with the authorities last Tuesday - she admitted that she was angry at the dog because it had bitten her on the leg when she tried to physically prevent her daughter from leaving the house. The woman denies ever asking anyone to kill the dog however.

The 15-year-old girl had exited the home on the night that she argued with her mother - the dog ran out with her. Later, the girl caught the dog and met up with Bong, who, according to the teen, offered to return the dog to its home.

According to the Associated Press, Bong's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 27.
