The teen told the authorities that boredom prompted him to pick up a compound bow and arrow and hunt stray kittens that were in an alley behind his home.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s office, the cruel crime took place during the week of August 4.
Lake County Indiana investigator Michelle Dvorscak stated:
“He did confess. He said he was bored out of his mind the week before school started and decided to hunt some kittens,”
According to the authorities, one of the kittens was disemboweled and another had an arrow through the head. The teen took the shocking evidence of his cruel endeavor to Facebook, posting photos of himself posing with the dead kittens, for all to see.
Eventually, the graphic nature of the photos prompted Facebook to remove them.
According to CBS Chicago, before the photos were removed, many people viewed the images and one person went a step further, contacting the authorities with the information.
That tip led police to the teen.
The authorities have indicated that the teen will be facing felony charges as a result of his cruel actions.
