14-year-old Ayvani Hope Perez, who was abducted at gunpoint from her family’s home, has been found alive and two suspects are in custody. The abduction took place in what appears to be a random home invasion in Ellenwood, Georgia.
According to News4Jax.com, two men broke into the home to around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, demanding money and jewelry. According to police, the girl’s mother was trying to hide the teen and her 15-year-old brother, but the men found them in the house. The burglars also shot and killed the family’s dog.
Local, state and federal officials conducted a massive search around the clock for the 14-year-old, and according to Clayton County Police Chief Gregory Porter, Ayvani Perez has been found safe in Conyers, just outside of Atlanta, and has been reunited with her family.
The family had just moved and had only been in the home about a month.
The two men in custody are not the same two men who were in the suspect sketches released yesterday. At this time there is no other motive apparent beside robbery, and is still an ongoing investigation.
