Ted Ligety smiled big when he got to the end of the Sochi course as he just knew there was gold in his future. The American skier brought home a medal in the Alpine skiing men's giant slalom at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games. Taking on the course and making the run look effortless, the skier impressed everyone. According to Yahoo Sports on Wednesday, this is the United States' Alpine team’s first gold medal of the 2014 Winter Olympics.
It was Ted Ligety’s first run that impressed. Nearly flawless, the first run with a time of 1:21.08 held against the competition and got the gold for the athlete. Ligety’s aggressive tactics on the slope definitely helped him get the gold. The perfect course conditions also factored in too. However fans will be quick to point out he was one of the best skiers on the course and that definitely was seen.
Ted Ligety was noticeably cautious in his second run, not wanting to risk too much after his first time down. That decision paid off and offered him the Olympic gold. And America couldn't be happier to see the athlete win big!
