According to an Aug. 16 tweet from Tecia Torres, the standout Invicta FC strawweight contender is committed to living a clean, healthy lifestyle, and she hopes the path she chose will set a good example for the next generation of fighters.
Torres, who turned 24 years old on Aug. 16, says she has never done drugs, smoked cigarettes or even tried a sip of alcohol.
The years between age 21 and 24 are definitely "party times" for most people, so Torres clearly showed some serious will power by going against the grain.
"Ohh yeah @24 I still have never had a sip of alcohol, a cigarette, or done drugs. Never Ever. Inspire a better generation #teamClean =)," Torres tweeted.
It's hard to argue with the results of Torres' lifestyle.
At age 24, she's already an accomplished professional fighter with an undefeated record and over two dozen bouts under her belt.
"Tiny Tornado" is 3-0 as a pro MMA cage fighter, with three-straight victories inside the Invicta FC cage. After opening her Invicta FC career with back-to-back wins over veteran strikers Kaiyana Rain and Paige VanZant, Torres found success again under the Invicta banner with a three-round decision win over Rose Namajunas.
Torres, who is also undefeated in her Muay Thai career, is quickly climbing the Invicta FC strawweight ladder, and she may be in line for a title shot as early as 2014.
Besides skipping out on drugs, cigarettes and alcohol, Torres also takes care of her body by eating clean.
Torres' eating plan allows her to lose weight while increasing overall health, and it shows in her fight performance.
At a time when some young fighters are partying and not taking their careers seriously, "Tiny Tornado" deserves props for going about her fighting career the right way, while also setting a great example for others.
