Torres, 24, says she got together with World Series of Fighting star Jessica Aguilar to formulate a plan on how to deal with Herrig's weigh-in antics.
Aguilar and Torres decided that if Herrig got up in her grill, "The Tiny Tornado" should either look her back in the eye, look away or kiss her on the lips.
“Me and (fighter) Jessica Aguilar were messing around (wondering) what should we do if she [got] close," Torres said of Herrig. "You have three options. You either look her right back in her eye, look away, or my third option was to do a Britney Spears-Madonna and kiss her on the lips. We went with the staredown.”
Herrig did end up getting close to Torres' face during the Invicta FC 7 weigh-in, but they did not end up kissing. Torres simply put a smile on her face and looked Herrig back directly in the eyes.
If Herrig and Torres did kiss, it wouldn't have been the first MMA weigh-in smooch.
Anderson Silva kissed Chris Weidman at the UFC 162 pre-fight weigh-ins, and a Swedish pro boxer smooched her opponent during a weigh-in last year.
Unfortunately for fight fans, there were no fireworks at the Invicta FC 7 weigh-ins, but there was plenty of steamy action during the fight itself.
The day after the Invicta FC 7 weigh-ins, Torres beat Herrig in lopsided fashion and then got called out by Invicta FC strawweight champ Carla Esparza.
“I didn’t even know she was in the ring with me,” Torres said of Esparza. “I was getting my props, and she was behind me, staring at me. I didn’t notice that until I’d gotten out of the ring. I was saying hello to fans, and she was calling me.
“I walked up to her, and she said, ‘I don’t talk. I talk with knees and fists. You and me, let’s have a chat. Let’s go for this belt.’ I’m not one to back down, so I was like, all right, we’ll go for this belt. I guess she wants to fight me next.”
