Modern technology advances everyday. It can be a hassle at times having to constantly learn how to use new technology or software. However, it can also be an amazing thing that provides help and joy to our lives.
William McCann, founding president of Dancing Dots braille music technology, found a way to use technology to turn music into braille. Learning to read and play music is not an easy task and takes a lot of dedication. Dr. Dalia Sakas, who was a beta tester and worked with the program, explains the patience required to read braille music since it is not graphic and more of an information system. The system was not made solely for turning music to braille but also for the visually-impaired to create a music score for a sighted person.
Music is a beautiful thing to have a part of our lives and thanks to modern technology and the hard work of others, the visually impaired have the opportunity to benefit from learning to play and write music. The amount of talent we are exposed to has broaden now that technology has provided the opportunity for everyone to share their talent and creativity in music.
