Tebow trade rumors: New York Jets trade of quarterback coming?

Tebow trade rumors are back. A New York Jets trade of Tim Tebow is exactly what the franchise wants and fans may be wondering if a deal might be close. According to a report from Sunday (Feb. 3), though, the team may find this to be an uphill battle.

One strike against the Jets is that the Jacksonville Jaguars have opted out of the chase for Tebow, even going as far as announcing that they will not try to acquire him. That might change, but it certainly looks like there will be no homecoming in the south for Tebow at this time.

The report goes on to state that the Jets aren't going to release Tebow until the last possible moment; a move that does make a lot of sense. Even if some fans want to see the quarterback controversy come to an end, the reality is that he is still an asset to the team. If the Jets can find a team simply willing to give up a draft pick for Tebow, a deal might get done rather quickly.

Expect the Tim Tebow trade rumors to pick up even more after the Super Bowl and that there will be a lot of offseason chatter about what the New York Jets might do next. The Jets aren't on the hook for much here, so they could release Tebow before the beginning of next season and he would simply become a free agent.

If Tebow did somehow wind up on the Jacksonville Jaguars, he would make it very interesting for fantasy football owners looking for a good backup quarterback next season.
