A radio CD promo of “New” popped into mail boxes over the weekend. The disc has just the one song with no extras. A sheet of paper included with the disc says, “Impacting radio now.”
An interesting early description of the single came from an industry newsletter which called “New” “a pleasingly not-so-new savor of classic McCartney pop.”
As we reported, McCartney did a series of promotional radio interviews to plug the single with Zoe Bell on BBC2 in the UK, and with Helen Lecht on WXPN in Philadelphia, Steve Seel and Jill Riley of The Current in Minnesota andTerri Hemmert on WXRT in Chicago the day of its release on Aug. 29.
