Since 1939, Batman has been a campy, comical Caped Crusader (Adam West and George Clooney), a brooding Caped Crusader (Michael Keaton) and a little bit of both (Val Kilmer), as well as a brooding Dark Knight (Christian Bale) against those who preys on the fearful.
Still, the core of Batman remains the same: Gotham City billionaire Bruce Wayne devotes his life to avenging and honor his parents' deaths as a masked superhero, a symbol against the criminals and the corrupt.
Ben Affleck becomes the sixth actor to don the cape and cowl, as director Zack Snyder tweeted another teaser photo of the Oscar winner as Batman for the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, where the yin and yang of superheroes will meet on the big screen for the first time. This film marks Ben's return to the superhero genre since playing Daredevil back in 2003, where Ben was introduced to future wife Jennifer Garner, who played love interest Elektra, a role she reprise in the 2005 spin-off.
Like Batman, Daredevil celebrates a milestone this year by turning 50, as Matt Murdock seeks justice both in and out of the courtroom as a blind attorney who uses his extraordinary senses to clean up the streets of New York as his Man Without Fear alter-ego.
However, Dawn of Justice won't focus solely on Batman and Superman (Henry Cavill), as Snyder tweets the first teaser photo of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman for this year's Comic-Con. Gadot won the covet role of the Amazonian warrior princess who has been well-known by Lynda Carter, who led the 'female empowerment' on television back in the mid-1970s, alongside The Bionic Woman and Charlie's Angels.
Dawn of Justice is hailed to set the stage for the big-screen formation of the Justice League, humanity's greatest champions for truth, justice, peace, equality, and harmony against the forces of evil -- with Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman as the heart, soul, and strength.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is set for release on May 6, 2016.
