It was 80 years ago that the story of the Masked Rider of the Plains was first told: a former Texas Ranger who traveled the Old American West righting wrongs with the aid of his Indian companion and friend.
This summer, they will ride for justice once more with Armie Hammer as Disney's The Lone Ranger, with Johnny Depp as Tonto.
Come Super Bowl Sunday, you'll see a 90-second commercial of the updated reboot from producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski: the beginning of that fabulous individual who brought law to the lawless and hope for those who wanted the West to be a safe place to live in.

The Lone Ranger rides into theaters July 3.
