Teaser for NOLA-produced 'For A Dark Skin Girl' now live

Back before the holidays, writer/director Brigid Turner, along with her team of New York and New Orleans cast and crew members were hard at work creating the pilot episode for miniseries For A Dark Skin Girl.

Just in time for Valentine's Day, Nastalliagon Productions/Dopeshoes Entertainment LLC—the production company behind the miniseries' pilot, has released the show's teaser. The pilot will introduce Johnathan Cardigan and Olivia Turner, two teenagers who have fallen in love with one another. Difficulty lies in the fact that Olivia's family works for Johnathan's. Given that the show is set in a 1950s town where race is an issue, skin colour is another challenge Johnathan and Olivia must overcome.

Director Brigid Turner's inspiration for the miniseries comes from her own background. “Even nowadays, as an adult, I've always been told that I'm pretty... for a dark-skinned girl.” Because of such comments, Turner feels it's important to tell this story. “It's about being comfortable in your own skin,” she says, regardless whether its 'dark' or 'light.'

Post-production is well underway, and Turner invites people to follow on the project's website, Facebook page, or Twitter for the most up-to-date information about its premiere.
