Team USA Olympic athletes get standing ovation during President’s speech

The Olympics are only nine days away and Team USA is making their way to Russia. While the eyes of the world were in Washington on Tuesday night listening to the President of the United States during the State of the Union address, the athletes weren't forgotten. According to NBC Sports, the President mentioned the team and the athletes got a standing ovation.

The reference of the Olympic hopefuls was made towards the end of the speech, but the impact of the moment wasn't lost by the sporting world. People heard the pride felt in Washington and viewers at home also felt moved by the moment. Our athletes are going to the 2014 Sochi Olympics and there are expectations of bringing home the gold.

In 2014, the Team USA athletes being sent to the Winter Olympics is biggest collection of individuals from any country. With more competitors there is a better chance of getting more medals, but even so the competition will be fierce.

As for fans back home, everyone stands with the President when reflecting on the athletes sent to Sochi. Fans are proud and delighted that the men and women are the best the United States has to offer. And the country wishes them good luck.
