On March 15th, the eighth day of competition at the 2014 Sochi Winter Paralympic Games, Team USA picked up the gold medal in ice sledge hockey. Team USA successfully defended their "title" from the 2010 Vancouver Games and is the first country with back-to-back golds in Paralympic Ice Sledge Hockey history. Team USA currently sits with a total of 17 Paralympic medals (two gold, seven silver, and eight bronze). While this puts them in 3rd place for the actual number of medals won, it puts them 7th overall in the ranked medal standings.
