One of the biggest parts of Paintball is the camaraderie that comes from playing on a team. When new players head to a field they see all the high end markers, the uniforms, and the bonding between people in a team setting. It almost draws them into wanting to be a part of it, a part of something special. TAP is one of the most well known teams in the SW Washington and North Oregon areas, and it's owner/team captain Marcus See is definitely one of the most passionate players when it comes to the sport and the future of Paintball. Who best to ask about the TAP team, then Marcus himself.
Q: What is TAP and why did you decide to start it?
TAP stands for Tactical and Precise and refers to our playing style. Never heard. Never Seen. Only Felt. We officially became a team in June of 2012 after a group of us decided we shared the common love for the sport as well as the passion.
Q: Who are currently on the roster? Are you currently recruiting?
Our roster consists of 6 members currently:
Marcus “Arch” See – Captain;
Marilena “Hawkeye” Meloni – Co-captain;
Crystal “The Bald Hornet” Cronin – Squad Leader;
Melissa “Missy” Burris;
John “Tech” Addison;
Jason “Randal” Randal.
We are currently recruiting but it’s a difficult task. There are certain qualities that we look for when recruit but we won’t really get into that.
Q: What are some of the goals of the team going forward? What do you hope to accomplish in the next year?
Our primary focus is having fun. We want to make sure the new players feel welcome and that they fit in with experienced ones. Over the next year we are working on getting our name out there and becoming a known team among the whole community, not just in paintball.
Q: Is the team currently sponsored, and if so by who?
Yes, we currently have many sponsors which include Tippmann Sports, Gearheadz Paintball, Splat Action Paintball Park, The Catshack Reports, Zephyr Paintball, and Sport Smoke.
Q: Can you tell me a little about your home field?
Splat Action Paintball Park is our home field and is one of the longest operating paintball fields in Oregon. They have numerous fields including bunkers, trenches, rivers, ponds, buildings, mountains, mines, and the list keeps going. During scenario events they combine all the fields and players get a little bit of everything.
Q: What are some of the upcoming events that TAP will be taking part in?
This year we will be attending the 4 Man Tactical Series at Action Acres, SuperGame XLV and XLVI at Sniperz Den, Gearheadz Fundraiser event also at Sniperz Den. We were planning on going to the West Coast Women’s Tournament in San Diego in April but we aren’t going to be able to make it. We are sponsoring a team for that event however.
Q: Who or what are the Guardians? What separates them from the normal paintball players?
The Guardian Brotherhood is a concept that benefits new players and youths. The idea is to have experienced players watch over them on the field and make sure they have fun and learn important skills that will help them compete with more experienced players. The two leaders of the Guardians are Team Captain of Death Pack Branden Shealy and Team Captain of TAP Marcus See. There isn’t a lot more I can say about the Guardians. Just know we have some really cool stuff coming down the pipe.
I want to thank Marcus for taking the time to answer some of my questions, and shine a little light on who exactly the TAP team are. To find out more about the team, check out the TAP team website.
