Team Snake Panama Seeks Pictures

Team Snake Panama is a group of people who have, do, support, or wish they could explore, study, and help conserve the snakes of Panama. They currently are working to document snakes throughout Panama and they can use your help.

Have you or will you visit Panama? Did you snap any pictures of snakes while you were on a tour or hanging out? If so, Team Snake Panama is asking that you email your picture to them at julie.ray@lamica.org with basic information so they can add your sighting to their records. In the email include information on where you found the snake including the name of the town or park and if known, an estimation of the elevation you were at. Also, include any information on date, weather conditions, or habitat that you may remember. You picture will not be used without your permission for anything other than to document the occurrence of that species of snake at the site.

Nearly fifty percent of snakes in Panama are threatened or endangered and remarkably, many have not yet been studied. Furthermore, many humans fear snakes and have had negative interactions with them. Your assistance will not only help to conserve snakes, but help Team Snake Panama to better understand how to educate local people and visitors on interacting safely with snakes.
