Team Pacific advances to semi-finals of World U-17 Hockey Challenge

According to the Hockey Canada website, Team Pacific (comprised of players born in British Columbia and Alberta) defeated Team Sweden 3-1 on Thursday at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

A major reason for Team Pacific's victory according to Hockey Canada, was because Calgary native Zach Sawchenko of the Moose Jaw Warriors shined. Sawchenko made 25 saves on 26 shots.

Another player with Calgary ties that produced for Team Pacific was Adam Musil of the Red Deer Rebels who notched a goal and an assist including the game winning goal 26 seconds into the third period. Adam Musil is the son of former Calgary Flames defenseman Frantisek Musil who played for the Flames from 1990-1995.

With the victory, Team Pacific improve to 3-1 and won Group A. Over the first four games in the tournament, they outscored their opposition 16-9. They will next play Russia on Friday.
